Pearson: Test Drive: Threading a Real Data Project throughout Intro Stats

Michael Sullivan (Joliet Junior College)

Information

Using real data is a great way to motivate students and help them see the relevance of statistics, but finding those data sets and repurposing them throughout the course to teach multiple concepts can be a challenge. In this presentation, Mike Sullivan will get you hands-on with 2017 data on tornadoes in the United States and demonstrate how it (and other data sets like it) can be used to teach descriptive statistics all the way through inference.
