Abstract

Expectations from students and institutions regarding the teaching of statistics in online statistics are constantly evolving. As these expectations shift, alongside changes in the content of online and intermediate statistics courses, educators face a growing number of questions and critical decisions about how best to adapt their teaching methods in an online setting. In this workshop, recognized leaders in the teaching of statistics will lead participants through different models of teaching statistics online, with an effort on best practices that lead to student engagement and understanding. We will focus on how a GAISE compliant, technology proficient introductory statistics course looks in both synchronous and asynchronous online environments. With an eye towards emerging best practices teaching statistics online, teachers of introductory and intermediate statistics courses will leave invigorated and prepared to change their models of teaching statistics in fall 2025.
