Abstract
The American Statistical Association's 2026 College GAISE (Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education) Recommendations can provide a framework in which to consider how the ubiquity of AI might impact our assessment and our pedagogy in Introductory Statistics and Introductory Data Science courses. We will discuss together ways in which we might use the Recommendations, and the impact of AI, to increase joy and discovery for students and instructors in these courses.
