Regional Conference - Carnegie Mellon University

Abstract:

Carnegie Mellon Statistics & Data Science is excited to host an eCOTS 2018 Regional Conference! The focus will be on the introductory levels of statistics & data science for students in high school, community colleges, and four-year universities.

We invite educators at all levels to join us on Wednesday, May 23rd from 12:30 - 5:30pm at Carnegie Mellon University (Baker Hall on Frew St - room to be confirmed).

Lunch starts at 12:30pm followed by a 1pm eCOTS keynote from Richard DeVeaux on "Data Science for All! Sure! But when, where, how, and why?". We will participate in Breakout Sessions on introductory level material but also have short presentations from conference participants introducing themselves and the projects they're working on or questions they have. Our goal is to build and strengthen a collaborative introductory statistics and data science community in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area.
