Abstract

Big data is all over the news and the kinds of problems that researchers face is changing at a pace that is almost incomprehensible. Has the introductory statistics course kept up? What should we be teaching our students to prepare them for the the world of data that they'll encounter? I'll talk about some of the things I'd like to tell them, some of the things I've had to let go of, and invite the audience to share their ideas as we all move together into this brave new world of big data.
