BoF 2-06: Staying Focused on GAISE in Textbook Selection

A systematic model for selecting a textbook that fits the Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education (GAISE 2016) criteria. This discussion will provide a methodology and example Excel workbook for ranking and selecting the best textbook for multiple levels of statistics courses. The rubric is broken into two key elements; goals for students and recommendations for teaching. Each text is scored individually with scores summarized on a separate Excel worksheet for easy comparison. This tool has been successfully used at a public two-year and private four-year institutions. Help determine if it would work in other educational settings.
