BoF 1-02: Reflective Questioning as an Assessment for Statistics

In March 2020 the pivot to fully online delivery and a looming exam provided fertile ground for reflection on how summative assessments are designed. Why not embrace the pandemic circumstances and use the unique world context as a basis for reflection and connection to course content? Why not shake off the propensity to assess skills and explore virtues - persistence, curiosity, strategizing, and thinking for oneself - which are insanely crucial for our 21st workforce? Inspired by a Linkedin post on reflection in mathematics, two professors took on this challenge to use reflection as an assessment in exams. Let’s share!
