Information

Most statistics and data science educators will agree that it is important to teach using real data, and some even argue we should be using real data from a real context students care about. In reality though, finding such data that also demonstrates a specific concept or is appropriate for a given method can be difficult and time consuming for educators. Where can we find good datasets? What characteristics should data have? Will students find it engaging? This session is designed for us all to share tips, experiences, and empirical studies about use of real data in the classroom.
