Diverse Undergraduate Research Experiences in Statistics: New NSF REU Sites Administered Through the ASA

Presented by:

Mark Daniel Ward & Donna LaLonde, American Statistical Association

Abstract

The American Statistical Association has received $380,000 of NSF funding to support Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Sites. At each site, student teams will work with complex data sets from varied scientific and engineering disciplines in which statistics plays a key role for data analysis. This poster serves as an announcement for the inaugural summer of this ASA initiative in summer 2016. We will also be searching for colleagues who are interested in hosting such an REU Site during summer 2017 or summer 2018. We will have 3 such sites during each summer. We hope to apply for more such REU Sites in the future, if this new project is successful.
