Caption Contest - November 2019 - Results

There were 38 entries for the November caption contest that featured a picture of a man trying to hold back a leak from a major crack in a dam. There are numbers, instead of water, both in the lake behind the dam and coming out of the cracks.

The winning caption for the November contest was "Take statistics! Because no one can stop the flood of data heading your way," written by Shawn Orton, an instructor at the Waterford School. Shawn’s caption can be used to motivate the importance of statistics in gleaning understanding from the large amounts of data in the modern world.

An honorable mention this month goes to Luke Fanning, a student from University of Colorado at Boulder for his caption: "A good statistician never lets data fall through the cracks" which could be used to emphasize the importance of using all available data in an analysis.
