"Suddenly, online surveys were looking a lot less risky"

May Results:
The cartoon for our 120th cartoon caption contest in May is shown above.  Amongst the 58 submissions for the contest, the judges found the winning caption to be "Suddenly, online surveys were looking a lot less risky,” written by Laila Poisson from Henry Ford Health. Laila’s caption can be used in discussing the advantages and disadvantages in the comparison of online versus direct interview surveys. The first honorable mention this month goes to Jennifer Boyd, a student at the University of Tennessee for her caption “Convenience sampling can create monstrous bias”  that would facilitate a discussion of the dangers of bias introduced by convenience sampling.  A second honorable mention goes to Louis Rocconi also from University of Tennessee, for his caption “Watch Out for the Survey Zombies: Bad Data Never Dies,”  that invites a more general discussion of survey methods especially checks on potential sources of bias and error (Louis - if you’re the instructor who inspired Jennifer to enter the contest, then double congratulations to you!)

Thanks to everyone who submitted a caption and congratulations to our winners!
