Chance News is a newsletter that deals with current issues in the news that use probability or statistical concepts. From September 1992 to January 2005 this newsletter was prepared by an editor and a small number of regular contributers.  As of Åpril 2005 Chance news will be a collaborative effort of  its readers in the spirit ofthe Wikimedia projects .  The  Wikimedia software makes it easy for a reader to add a new chance item,  or to modify an existing chance news items (hopefully improving it)The Wikmedia Foundation has used this software to successfully develop a number of projects including a free Encyclopidia, a  newpsaper, and a series of books.  All these are made freely available under the [http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html GNU Free Documentation License] as will also be Chance News.

It is hoped that this will allow Chance News to continue to be a valuable resource for the general public and teachers of probability and statistics courses who want to liven up their courses with current .

These include a free Encyclopedia, a newspaper, and a series of books .  We will use the Wikimedia software that makes it easy for a reader to add a new chance item,  or to modify an existing chance news items (hopefully improving it). To add a new item,  click on "Current Chance News".  Replace the first available "item" in the table of contents by the title of your contribution.  Then click on this title and a new page will appear.  Choose "edit" from the top of the page and type in our contribution.  Then choose "preview" from the bottom of the page to see if your contribution is o.k. If it is, choose "save" from the bottom of the page and we will have a new item in the current chance news.  Use edit, preview and save in the same way to change an existing Chance News item. Be brave!    For further information about editing choose "help" from the side bar.
