Caption Contest - February 2019 - Results

We had 27 submissions for the February caption contest that featured a cartoon showing a group of large lumber trucks waiting in line as they approach a weigh station. Also in line is a tiny car with a few small branches on it.

The winning caption for the February contest was "Weight of the logs ≠ log of the waits," written by Joseph Gerda from College of the Canyons. Joseph's caption is a neat double pun that can be a nice vehicle to discuss how the expectations of non-linear functions of a random variable is not the same as the function of the expectations.

An honorable mention goes to "Sometimes you can't help feeling like an outlier," written by Andrew VanZytveld, a student at Calvin College.
