The Consortium for the Advancement of Undergraduate Statistics Education is a national
organization whose mission is to support the advancement of undergraduate statistics
education

We seek to hire a graduate student as part-time Research Assistant for the Summer 2022,
academic period.
The research assistant will assist CAUSE Research leadership to assist efforts on
revamping the resources on the website and support infrastructure for all who would like
to get involved in Statistics and Data Science Education Research. Such infrastructure may
include, but is not limited to: (*) clearinghouse of information about grants awarded for
statistics education research from various funding bodies & tools for researchers who
wish to access such funding themselves; (*) infrastructure to connect research
participants to statistics education researchers leveraging the existing CAUSE
Institutional Member pool; (*) resources to connect researchers to relevant materials
across related disciplines such as special interest groups across professional
organizations (e.g., ASA SDSE Section, MAA RUME, ACM SIGCSE, IASE) and associated
conferences, journals (including special issues), and resources; (*) curated literature
“playlists” to give recommendations for start-up reading on various topics–e.g., 6-8
papers including seminal works and major milestones related to significant research topics
in statistics education, major works by prolific authors and thought leaders in the field,
etc. The research assistant will work closely with CAUSE personnel including the interim
Research Page Curator, webmaster, and Associate Directors for Research. Hours, wage, and
anticipated period of employment are variable.
Qualifications include: (*) Demonstrated interest in research closely related to
statistics education or data science education, (*) familiarity with statistics & data
science education research, literature, conferences, etc., (*) strong preference for PhD
candidate or recent PhD graduate, (*) reliable, independent worker, (*) available to
meet/collaborate remotely during business hours in Eastern (UTC -4:00) and Atlantic (UTC
-3:00) time zones.
