Free ASA Webinar: 2016 GAISE College Report

Tuesday, December 6 @ 4 pm Eastern Time

Does your New Year’s Resolution include implementing the new GAISE 2016 College Report in your classroom?  Although there is a GAISE Pre-K-12 Report, the GAISE College Report should also be of interest for those teaching college level statistics in high school (AP Statistics, etc.).

In August 2016, the GAISE 2016 College Report (www.amstat.org/education/gaise) was endorsed by the American Statistical Association.  Although the six recommendations of the original report remain, there have been some changes. The new report includes two new emphases, the goals are now written as learning objectives and the appendices have been expanded.  This webinar will give you a quick overview of the changes in the report and then move on to providing food for thought on ways to implement the two new emphases , “Teach statistics as an investigative process of problem-solving and decision making” and “Give students experience with multivariate thinking”.  In addition, the discussion will include potential topics to reduce or leave out, making room for these new ideas.

Presenters:

Robert Carver (Stonehill College)

Megan Mocko (University of Florida)

Beverly Wood (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University)

Please use the link below to RSVP for the free webinar. The webinar will be recorded and posted on the GAISE Report webpage.
