Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is anticipated; higher ranks will be considered. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Primary responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate statistics classes to non-statistics majors as well as teaching introductory and upper-level statistics and data science classes for statistics majors and minors. Applicants must have a master’s or terminal degree (Ph.D.) in statistics, data science, or a closely related field by appointment start date; at a minimum a master’s degree is required. The courses for which this position would be responsible may range in level from introductory undergraduate to upper-level undergraduate statistics and data science courses. There is also the possibility that the qualified candidate would be expected to teach graduate-level statistics and data science service courses for non-statistics students. Examples of courses the faculty member may be expected to teach include a capstone course for statistics majors and a course on introductory data science and computing. If desired, the opportunity to occasionally teach in an online setting or to help design/redesign courses that benefit our majors is also a possibility.
