Data SetsAbout the WorkshopDownload Flyer (PDF) This workshop will provide participants with direct experience that will help them develop classroom activities and assessments that are aligned with both the ASA endorsed Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education (GAISE; www.amstat.org/education/gaise) and recommendations in the AMATYC publication, Beyond Crossroads. Each participant will be part of a team that develops a lesson plan and materials by the end of the workshop that can be incorporated into an introductory statistics course. PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING THEIR OWN LAPTOP COMPUTER. Conference Site and LodgingThe Institute will be held on the campus of NCAR, the National Center for Atmospheric Research on the mesa outside of Boulder, Colorado. The workshop will provide $75 per night toward the cost of lodging for participants living more than 30 miles from boulder, Colorado. Lodging will be at the Best Western Boulder Inn, 770 28th Street, Boulder, CO, for Sunday through Thursday nights. (www.boulderinn.com) in downtown Boulder. Room rates for our group are $99 for a single and $109 for a double. Participants sharing a double room with a fellow workshop participant will not have to pay the amount over $75. TransportationParticipants are responsible for their own transportation to Boulder, CO. Transportation will be provided on a Colorado University bus from the Best Western Boulder Inn to NCAR each day for workshop sessions. Participants can fly into Denver International Airport (DEN). Transportation from the airport to Boulder is available from SuperShuttle (www.supershuttle.com) rates for a shared van shuttle is $25 each way. Shuttle reservations should be made in advance. Social Events and MealsContinental breakfast at the Boulder Inn is included with the room. Lunch will be provided at NCAR during the workshop sessions. Participants are responsible for all other meals. There are many restaurants within walking distance of the Boulder Inn. A tour of the beautiful NCAR facility will be provided. Details of social event opportunities will be available on the registration site as they become available. Cancellation PolicyThe Summer Institute will be held only if the minimum enrollment is reached by May 15, 2009. If the enrollment requirement is not met the Institute will be cancelled. AMATYC takes no responsibility for any other expenses an individual may incur and will not be liable for those out of pocket costs.
