Call for Proposals - 2018

Call for Proposals

Thank you for your interest in the 2nd annual VOICES meeting, to be held online on September 26, 2018! If you are interested in contributing an online presentation, please complete the form below. To ensure full consideration, please submit the form no later than July 24th, 2018. We welcome all submissions relating to the use of music to teach any high school- or college-level STEM subject; however, proposals that apply to STEM as a whole are especially encouraged. Individuals may submit more than one proposal, though time constraints will limit the number of presentations we can accept. Please note that all presentations will be archived on a publicly accessible website, as occurred for the 2017 conference. Questions may be directed to conference co-chair Tiffany Getty (tiffany.getty@wilkes.edu).

Preferred presentation format (choose one):

  • Video Poster: brief (maximum 5 minutes) pre-recorded presentation, to be posted on the website and displayed throughout VOICES and beyond. Conference attendees will be encouraged to view posters throughout the week prior to Sept. 26, and to leave comments or questions for the poster presenter; presenters are encouraged to check their poster frequently and respond to questions/comments. (For examples, see last year's program.)
  • Live Presentation: webinar on a particular topic (15 minutes + discussion time). Format: live audio + slides OR live video (we can help with this). Some presentations may be organized into panels addressing a common topic; individual presentations may be solo or team efforts as desired by the presenters.
  • Original Design: the two formats listed above may not be ideal for every presentation.  If you have a different format in mind, explain your idea in the final box below and we'll try to accommodate you.

Online presentations offer unique opportunities and challenges for engaging remote audiences. Please list your special needs and/or ideas for maximizing interactivity, e.g., using polls, chat windows, etc. If you proposed an Original Design above, please discuss that here.
